La Belle Sirène Comme Le Comedienne
This suite (one of two), of four songs comes from the Josephine Baker – A Life of Le Jazz Hot! project – Launched by Imani Winds in 2006, with guest artists Rene Marie, vocals & Joseph Tompkins, percussion (And a wee-bit of Monica Ellis on soprano sax!)
The project, which toured throughout the USA, celebrates the life of Josephine Baker, entertainer/dancer/chanteuse who became a huge hit in the Paris of the 1920s and 1930s. The Beautiful Siren as Comedian, was inspired by some of the scenes in her several films.
